Even wise individuals should embrace the idea of continuous learning. No matter how knowledgeable we are, there’s always more to learn, and seeking new knowledge is a sign of strength, not weakness.
FITLETE Professional Update
The Resource Nexus
—This truly is a NEXUS, just like Times Square is described as the nexus of the New York subway system. You can “get anywhere” from here.
I am reorganizing the company lists, bookmarks, and all appropriate databases. This is both for increasing my own efficiency on the backend and to better structure bridges and connections for anyone who uses the resource nexus.
In this reorganization, I am finding some of the raw numbers of entries that I have both shocking and inspiring, because there is no other entity that does what I’m doing for trainers.
Currently, FITLETE’s Resource Nexus has over 1,100 unique company/organization entries. I consider it essential to show this number for three reasons that fuel my fire to continue doing this.
One thousand one hundred entries is significantly smaller than the entire worldwide internet available to search for what you want and need. You don’t need to waste time and effort searching through everything about anything to find the specific event, course, mentorship, product, software, or job you need. Over 1,000 of them are here at your fingertips! And if they aren't here, it’s likely that it’s either bullshit or simply doesn’t exist.
One thousand one hundred entries is significantly larger than any “The best (fill in the blank) for personal trainers” list blog article will ever be able to give you. Most of the time, you’re not even going to find the most relevant ones that you want/need on these lists, too, just the “big ones”
If you followed all 1,100 companies on social media, plus your friends, colleagues, and other interests, you would never be able to stay up to date with them. You don’t need to be locked into social media just to stay up to date with what is going on around the industry.
FITLETE Radio
— A special bonus interview episode is coming on Wednesday afternoon!
Through 30 interviews, I find it interesting which ones people find after they have been published for a while. This list will always change, but right now the most listened to episodes are:
Fantastic podcasts I heard last week:
RX’d Radio—E593: 6 Things We Wish We Knew When We Started as Trainers
Trainers share six hard-won lessons from their experiences. They emphasize the importance of personalized approaches and understanding that everyone responds differently to training. Navigating client expectations and building emotional resilience are critical for success. Effective communication fosters trust and engagement, especially when trainers admit they don’t have all the answers. They also discuss the delicate balance of pricing services to reflect value while remaining client-friendly. Recognizing diverse client worldviews can significantly enhance training effectiveness.
The Exercise Mechanic Podcast—Gut Health and The Ethics of Personal Training
Tim Walsh, a seasoned fitness professional with 25 years of experience, shares his transformative journey through a hip replacement and rehabilitation. He emphasizes the critical role of empathy and trust in personal training, challenging stereotypes in the fitness community. Walsh discusses nutritional needs and deficiencies in strength athletes, highlighting the impact of proper vitamin and mineral dosing for performance. Their conversation also touches on gut health and its connection to mental well-being, blending personal anecdotes with valuable insights.
Ciara Greene, a psychologist from University College Dublin, dives into the fascinating science of forgetting. She unpacks why we remember some moments vividly while others fade away, challenging the stigma around forgetfulness. Explore the neurological foundations of memory and the surprising benefits of letting go. Greene brings personal anecdotes and research to life, shedding light on the emotional complexities of memory, including the curious case of those with extraordinary recall. Forgetfulness, it turns out, may be a gift in disguise!
Founders—A conversation on focus and finding your life's work
Join Patrick O’Shaughnessy, host of Invest Like the Best, for an engaging discussion on focus and finding your life's work. He dives into the crucial role of focus in entrepreneurship, contrasting deep commitment with the distractions of modern life. The conversation highlights the power of passion, advocating for genuine fulfillment over external accolades. Patrick also critiques society's obsession with wealth and status, encouraging listeners to seek meaningful contributions rather than mere financial gain. A thought-provoking exploration of enduring success!

Personal Update
— The value of not being sick is insane when I reflect on the past 2 weeks. While it cannot be 100% avoided, reducing the frequency and intensity of the impact is enormous to both personal quality of life and productivity in my work.
