Personal Update
October was a roller coaster. I apologize for missing last week's newsletter, but I do have an explanation(not an excuse) as to what happened.
At the beginning of October, I entered into negotiations and accepted to take on another job as the gym Manager for Hybrid Performance Method here in Miami alongside my steady personal training business. The last three weeks of October have been my evaluation of the role as well as uncovering a lot of (what I consider) baseline necessities and systems that were not in place. Remember a few weeks back when I mentioned a podcast about table stakes? Well, it wasn’t a coincidence lol. Needless to say, I was a bit busier than I had anticipated in this first month and it forced me to make a decision of either slowly dealing with these things over the course of a few months or, dive in and get it set my way ASAP. Being realistic with myself the answer was always going to be ASAP. I want current and new members to have a defined point of change/improvement and set the tone for what my expectations are for the space. Is that how you would do it too?
On that note, November is a big month of updates for the live events because you can officially have the year over for new events in 2022 being scheduled, and start to look toward 2023 events that are currently being added!

Dr. Colleen Hacker has worked with some of the biggest sporting organizations and businesses in the world as a Mental Performance Consultant. She most recently served on the Gold Medal staff for USA Ice Hockey in the 2018 Olympic Games which was alongside her tenure with the women's football USA national team. During this time she helped the USA win multiple Olympic gold medals.
On the episode today we discuss a number of different mental skills that performance coaches may want to develop. This may not be the sole focus, but things like mental toughness, resilience, and dealing with adversity are skills that can be developed in numerous environments which as the field or court. Given recent conversations on mental toughness and military-style training, we chat a lot about how performance coaches and those without the luxury of a mental skills coach can use strategies in their sessions to build this.
