— 🌶️ This weekend, I went to an education conference local to me(shameless plug), I found out about it 2 years ago when I was gathering events together for the In-Person Events Branch of the Resource Nexus. It was the 7th Annual Conference for the Society for Sports Neuroscience ”From lab bench to weight bench”, Under $300 to attend a 2-day event, Lunch Included, and only a 35 minute car ride away from me in Miami; a no brainer. I’ll be doing my review later this week.
Being able to easily find events like this one where we can learn things adjacent to what we do as coaches and trainers on a daily basis is one of the top if not the top reasons I made the Nexus and started with In-Person Events.

Personal Update
— I like learning, even when there is some material that is “over my head”. I had a busy week and usually look forward to winding down on the weekend with minimal work related tasks, mentally challenging self directed learning/ reading, or major problem solving; I do this all week within my role as a coach and trainer and need some time off. However, this weekend I had that conference and rather than negatively stress me out things like this invigorate me. It’s the “right sized rock tossed into my still waters” of a routine and create right amount of ripples to refresh my spirit. I like meeting new people too, and these people were well outside of my bubble of coaches and colleagues. Where else can you go and talk with biomedical engineers, neuroscience researchers, mindset coaches that are also Phd’s, mental health therapists working with the military, and of course people like me, coaches? Apparently at a conference like this one.
