Yes, I know what diabetes does and you are correct in saying diabetes causes diabetic retinopathy. I was never refuting that, and if you had said only that in the article as your bonus info I would have applauded your ability to provide quality information. However, I was pointing out that in an article you state is supposed to backed by scientific evidence and studies you can string together your own personal conclusions as fact using “primitive man lived just fine without prescription glasses” and say the only reason we need glasses today is because of the excess sugar modern humans consume.
The best answer I can give to your most recent question is the same one you should give your readers: “I DON’T KNOW” because any other answer would be speculation and biased opinion. For example here is a speculative answer based on some common knowledge and assumptions, but no actual statistical fact. We need glasses today because the need for precise and detailed forms of vision at all ranges are at great demand than they were in the times of primitive man(ie. no need for primitive man to read a small lettered street sign 100 yards away or stare at small letters on a computer/phone screen 10 hours a day), and a primitive man could probably have gotten away with minor deficiencies in their vision because they did not need the precise 20/20 vision at all ranges to be successful in their daily tasks (building, hunting, gathering etc.). A farsighted hunter probably did wonderfully as a hunter even though he saw a little blurry while eating the food he killed that day and vice versa for nearsighted primitive man…they probably were not hunters, and those who had really bad vision at all ranges probably didn't do a whole lot of hunting and those who did probably died. It’s not likely primitive man was either perfect vision or 100% blind lol.
Primitive man did live just fine without glasses(because they clearly survived and advanced), but that doesn't mean they along with anyone else who lived before the 13th century (when glasses were thought to be invented) didn’t have any vision deficiencies.
