The Monday Report
April 15 | Getting more comfortable taking risks has allowed me to place “risks” in my decision-making model, think about the future, and be more calculated when making impactful decisions.

Personal Update
Last week, I said I needed to schedule better, and I have taken that seriously because I already know that I have better performance when I have one. I already have a digital calendar & task list in Google. Still, I want to empower that model with a physical calendar I can see and manipulate within the facility. It’s not that I don’t update or use the digital one, but I have noticed I tend to do better with my task management when I have an opportunity to write things down. Is this a sign that I am getting old? Haha, but serious. I am pretty good with time management, but I am always looking for another level of efficiency by “taking a step back” and assessing the progress and pain points.
I was also asked to participate in a local spotlight publication to answer a question about risk.

Professional Update
One interesting point I wanted to highlight is that while I am doing the Q2 updates, it can seem a little bleak. Still, it is important to the future of education quality & delivery in our industry.
Since 2018, just over 260 education organizations have decided to close up shop 100%, move their education to open-cart/evergreen, use a closed-cart online courses-only system, or have been acquired/merged with another organization. At first, you might think this is alarming or a concern for our education opportunities, but it isn't!
Some were old, and I don’t always mean in age. Yes, some old coaches who put on their own yearly summits did essentially “age out,” but I mean in their ideas; either the material lacked any refreshed input or the way the material was presented was their downfall.
Others have clearly had to rethink their business or non-profit structure to stay afloat after becoming “too big for their britches.” Some people are just not good at the X’s and O’s outside of their role as coaches, and it’s smart for those people to allow others to take the helm. There was a period of time when it seemed like everyone was trying to open their own personal training-certifying body membership model, and it wasn’t a good thing.
To me, this means the education landscape has some gaps that will be filled by the bold and calculated. I think some are already trying to do this.
Some big players will still be around for political lobbying strengths and research purposes. Still, the new talent putting out information understands where these big ones have major gaps and will fill those voids relentlessly.
