The Monday Report
July 15| Sometimes, everything seems to go in a direction you would not prefer. Recognizing victories when they happen, even when they're small, keeps you level-headed.
Personal Update
It's not a significant update on the personal side, but I just got reminded that small wins feel good and often far better when you don't belittle their importance. I had a frustrating amount of luck with the brand new automatic access-controlled locks on the HQ that, when it was finally troubleshot to death, got shipped a new unit, new installation, and set-up with the lock company support team (literally for like three weeks) and began working, the amount of weight that felt lifted from my shoulders felt like I was a new person. It was a little win but a colossal stress-relieving victory.
Fantastic podcasts I heard last week:
Inspire Fitness Podcast: Whatever you want to learn-Teach It; A conversation with Mike Doehla
Vigor Life Podcast: EP 177 The principles of building a successful gym in today’s environment with Mark Fisher.
Just Fly Performance Podcast: 411: Tim Anderson on dialing the spectrum of speed in movement and performance.
Here’s a link to download Snipd, the podcast app I use to make a “notebook” of A.I. transcripts, bookmarks within episodes, and take notes on each podcast I hear! They have a free app you can use or, with this link, you get 1 month of their Premium version for free: 1 Free Month Of Premium Snipd
Professional Update
This is the most significant update I have been working on and towards since making edits to the filtering and search capabilities. The previous update to search and filter was the taste test, mostly because I didn’t know how to code it correctly yet. Many filters had to be manually input and were not customizable. It could have worked better, but I would have had to restructure the data within the databases completely.
Filtering and searching are the second most crucial aspects of FITLETE behind collecting and organizing the data, and the better it works, the more valuable it becomes for you. The experience must be consistent across the site, which is another thing this update brings.
Let’s take a look at the search filters.
I kept the dropdown select filters because I like how they can work together on the page and update the results without needing a page refresh every time you want to look for something else.
When you load a page, all the filters will be set to “view all.”
From here, you can select one or many options to narrow the results just like the previous update.
When you do this, you will see both the table of results and the map, which will perform a synchronized update to show you only the desired results.
These filters are dynamically loaded from the source database. This means if you select the “Countries filter” on the July In-person Map, it will only show you countries available in the July data. Or, if you are looking for a specific date, it will only show you particular dates during July that are available in the data.
Keywords for all the tables on the site. These keywords are additional search terms that can be associated with a course. In the database, there will be multiple comma-separated keywords(you can see them in the table), but you can search for only the ones you want.
Online courses have a new CEU/CPD filter. Like the Keywords filter, the CEU/CPD filter works off of multiple comma-separated values that you can view in the tables and only search for the one you want.
ZERO-PAGE REFRESHES. Once you start your search, you never have to wait for the page to reload and show your results. Like magic, it happens immediately.
Having this new search and filter ability is why I delayed releasing the careers table in June. I would have built it using the old system and almost immediately changed it to this one. I will finish that one next, and it will work the same way and look the same as the rest. It will be most similar to the in-person event map and table layout so you can visually search near your desired location and filter essential variables.

The Online Courses
Here is a direct link to Online Courses. Did you know that this directory also includes free courses? You can filter this list only to show free courses using the (All) Prices dropdown filter shown in the picture below.
The Equipment Directory
Here is a direct link to the USA equipment. It’s the only USA right now, but with these new search features available, look for new countries to be added next. The next countries on the list will be the rest of North America, followed by Australia and the United Kingdom, because, based on my web traffic metrics, those are the second and third most active countries actively using the site.
