"Sophrosyne": means "soundness of mind" or "excellence of character". It's also a virtue that represents moderation, temperance, prudence, decorum, self-control, and purity.
Professional Update
Last week’s Poll in the Monday Report showed some interest in my potential new social media posting strategy: “a short daily video showing events in a location on a specific day.” I will strategize this over the next week or two and start getting them out! I’m not used to being on screen, so forgive me in advance if I go all crazy eyes at the camera and fill your screen with a mountain of awkwardness, but you gotta start somewhere, right?
Website: A new directory is in the works!
I’m calling it “The Business Growth Hub.” I missed this in the initial setup, not because I omitted business growth tools from the site but because I thought just having a filter in the courses directory or events listings was good enough. It turns out that instead of making things more straightforward, it just muddied the water.
What will this have in it?
Entrepreneurship/ Solopreneurship Resources
Business & Coaching Software
Fitness Industry Franchising Opportunities
Fitness Business Licensing Programs
Mentorship groups
Luckily, some of these categories already exist on the site, so it will only take some front-end re-working to get it up and running.
Fantastic podcasts I heard last week:
RX’D Radio- E564: What Drives SUCCESS in the Coaching Industry?
Founder Podcast By David Senra- #367 Inside the Contrarian Mind of Sam Zell
Chasing Common Ground: Lifestyle Conversations with Chris Liddle- Finding Passion, Overcoming Doubt, and Embracing Authenticity: A Conversation with Bryce MacArthur
The Game w/ Alex Hormozi- My Guide For Doing Business With Friends | Ep 773
Here’s a link to download Snipd, the podcast app I use to make a “notebook” of A.I. transcripts, bookmarks within episodes, and take notes on each podcast I hear! They have a free app you can use or, with this link, you get 1 month of their Premium version for free: 1 Free Month Of Premium Snipd
Personal Update
I like what I do. That causes me some trouble, though, because solving problems and the quest to develop more efficient methods of solving them is an endless battle. The best and worst part of this is that I am the only one holding myself to these things for my work.
I like this quote about moderation(at the top of the page) more than others because it purposefully includes being not too zealous. It takes some introspective thought to stop at passionate, excited, or dedicated before crossing the line to being zealous and eventually a zealot. Some people think this means some sort of lukewarm commitment or a "meh" attitude towards everything, which is not at all what I am saying. It's all about avoiding the harmful extremes that don't allow for flexibility and learning around these solid convictions and actions.
I keep trying to remind myself of this with my work. I don’t want to be a zealot about how I work. It’s not a productive or efficient path forward.
