OCT 14th | The Monday Report
The ability to recognize & capitalize on opportunities often requires wisdom, foresight, and moral character. Remember this as you look towards a future as a personal trainer in an evolving industry.
Professional Update
Website: No significant changes have been made this past week. I am still updating as I stated from the previous weeks Monday Report.
Newsletter: Two new live-event recaps will be published soon! This past weekend, two West Coast USA events were held simultaneously, and I asked some friends of mine who I met at previous years ’ events if they could do a recap for the newsletter!
Podcast(s): The rest of October will be focused on arranging interviews and producing the episodes for release for the Trainer Spotlight episodes. I have already completed the show cover art which is a minor competition but a fun and creative one for me. lol
I am also getting rolling on the hyper-local podcast idea I took from something Jon Goodman at one of the Raise The Bar Conferences. I can’t remember whether it was in his presentation or if it was something he was talking about in more depth at the VIP portion of the event. That show will be called “The Best Around The Magic City Innovation District,” and it will help me get my name out more in the community that my headquarters calls home.
Fantastic podcasts I heard last week:
October 7th, 2024 WTF Gym Talk Podcast: Talking Shop w/ CEO of Wodify, Brendan Rice
September 27th, 2024 Founders Podcast #366 Mr. Beast Leaked Memo
October 7th, 2024 Future Of Fitness Podcast Mark Fisher - The Evolution of Gyms: A 15yr Perspective
October 5th, 2024 The Revive Stronger Podcast 436: A Critical Look At Lengthened Partials - Kassem Hansen
Here’s a link to download Snipd, the podcast app I use to make a “notebook” of A.I. transcripts, bookmarks within episodes, and take notes on each podcast I hear! They have a free app you can use or, with this link, you get 1 month of their Premium version for free: 1 Free Month Of Premium Snipd
Personal Update
I had an interview on another podcast! As always, I will let you know when it is released. I met the host of the “Creating the World Best Client Experience” Podcast” Alison Katschkowsky while attending the Raise the Bar Conference( I think you are seeing a trend happening here or me meeting people at conferences). During one of the breakout sessions, we got to chatting. She gave me a different perspective on creating a hybrid business as a fitness professional. We’ve kept in touch, and I really enjoy her outlook and perspective on work and self-care from the perspective of an in-the-trenches entrepreneur. She also has another podcast called “The Ultimate Journey of Self-Care” that I have already been listening to because it has short(30-40 minute) episodes which is another plus.
I love these talks with fellow professionals, whether recorded for a show or just for catching up and talking shop. As most of you may know, I work in a team of 1, and as much as I prefer to work solo, I enjoy frequent social interaction, so these talks can sometimes be a really good change of pace to my “grind away at the work” mentality.
