Nov.18 |The Monday Report
While building wealth can seem inviting and beneficial, it often brings complications and moral dilemmas when we possess it. We can't help people for free, but we don't need to do harm simply profit.
FITLETE’s Professional Update
Website: I am in the groove with making updates and trying to upgrade the site's search performance. Writing about these behind-the-scenes updates is challenging because they are all dull stuff. I am reorganizing the database to support better search, quicker searching, and less redundancy. I will also be reaching out to more businesses directly. If you have someone in mind you think aligns with FITLETE best, let me know, or an organization you want to see in here, let me know!
The most exciting change will be within the soft launch of the Spotlights podcast's first episode.
Podcast: Well, Well, Well, it looks like I overpromised and underdelivered. This is still new for me, so putting the episodes together has taken a little longer than anticipated. However, I have watched a few more tutorials, and I believe I have my system and production flow set up better. It will be done this week.
Black Friday Equipment Shopping Tip
If you are looking for some deals in your local area, check out the equipment map this week and see if any of the companies in your area have discounts and sales, and remember the Local Pick Up options are always an excellent way to save on some pretty outrageous shipping costs( even if they are rolled into the pricepoint of the equipment)
Fantastic podcasts I heard last week:
Movement Optimism Podcast: Dr Colin Griffin discusses optimal Achilles tendinopathy rehab
Colin Griffin is a strength and conditioning coach specializing in lower limb injuries, particularly Achilles tendinopathy. He critiques traditional tendon loading programs and promotes a more engaging, performance-focused approach. Colin emphasizes the balance of loading and recovery, the importance of strength training, and optimizing plyometric landing mechanics. Personalization is essential, whether through tailored exercises or understanding individual anatomical differences.
Movement Optimism Podcast: Dr Falk Mersmann discussed the hows and whys of building tendon strength
Dr. Falk Mersmann, head of a research group at Humboldt University, specializes in muscle and tendon biomechanics. He highlights the crucial balance between tendon stiffness and muscle strength in preventing injuries. While personalized tendon loading can enhance adaptations, running alone is not enough for tendon health. Mersmann challenges the belief that stretching decreases stiffness and argues that plyometrics might not improve tendon strength. He emphasizes that understanding mechanical stiffness is vital for effective injury prevention in athletes.
Paint The Edges Podcast: E3- Navigating Knowledge in the Age of Distraction
The discussion highlights the shift in content consumption and its effect on attention spans, criticizing short-form media for impeding deep learning. It emphasizes the need for immersive experiences and the balance between mastery and broad knowledge. The hosts stress the importance of asking better questions to improve understanding and address the challenges personal trainers face in their evolving roles. Ultimately, the focus is on promoting intentional engagement with learning resources.

George’s Personal Update
I missed last week's Monday report, but I believe it was for a good reason. I was taking a break. I’ve talked about this before, but I have been learning to shut down the “grind mindset” more and more. I have set up a schedule for myself(I am re-working this schedule now, too), trying to make weekly strides at staying current in my hobbies and making more time for friends and family. The weekend before the 11th, I got together with a few friends from college who I had not seen in almost 15 years! It was a great weekend. We missed a few fellas who couldn’t attend, but it was still a great time.
