In 2014, I didn’t know how much I loved being a trainer, and after moving down to Miami and working as a trainer, I wasn’t sure whether that was the direction I wanted for my future. What ended up convincing me that being a coach was what I wanted to do was talking with other local coaches, meeting other older trainers in the industry at events, and seeing where my enthusiasm sat compared to theirs in conversations about the future. Some saw it as a means to an end or a stepping stone to something else, which are great and noble paths, but I routinely came back happy with “just being a coach”. I wouldn't have figured that out so quickly on my own without some assistance. Engaging in conversations with like-minded professionals in your industry is crucial for growth and discovering where you fit best, as well as what you enjoy most about being a trainer.
