May 12 | The Monday Report

Sub Club By RevenueCat— Cultivating Organic Growth with Viral Loops — Guillem Ros Salvador, Hevy
On this episode, we chat with Guillem about how Hevy gained early traction without paid marketing and why raising prices isn’t always the best move, even if customers are willing to pay more. Key insights include shaping your MVP around three core pillars to keep development lean, especially for small or bootstrapped teams. Instead of hoping users just show up, mimic competitors’ strategies initially to capture an early user base. For social apps, frequent or drastic price changes can erode user trust, so maintain consistent value to encourage positive word-of-mouth. Prioritize organic growth early-through viral loops and App Store Optimization-to build a sustainable foundation before using paid acquisition as a boost. Finally, small teams enable focused product development but balancing lean operations with diverse skills is crucial for scaling effectively.
Garry Tan, President and CEO of Y Combinator, shares his insights on transforming founders into successful innovators. He discusses the importance of earnestness over mere credentials in the startup world. The conversation then shifts to how AI is revolutionizing venture capital and its implications for the future. Garry also addresses the challenges within Silicon Valley, the role of cloud computing, and how educational tools can foster agency in children. If you're curious about the intersection of innovation and ethics.

Personal Update
— De-railed since last Wednesday evening. I got the flu or something, and I'm still going through it, but I finally don’t feel like I’m being crushed. As of today, I feel maybe 70 percent better tops. I struggled to do anything, so this Monday Report was my only work since Wednesday evening, I didn’t even train any clients which is wild, I never do that for this many days in a row for being sick, its usually because of something good like a vacation, or going to a conference. I had high hopes to on Sunday, but that was not as realistic as I was trying to convince myself it was as I was getting dressed and ready. Full day tomorrow.
