March 10 | The Monday Report
Leading by example is more effective than merely giving advice. If I want others to follow my guidance, I must first demonstrate the behavior I wish to see in them. Actions Speak!
FITLETE Professional Update
The Resource Nexus
— I noticed some link errors on the site so that I will be addressing those. The big Ones are (I don’t know how it happened) the dashboard menu button and sign-in re-direct links. I am sorry if you experience this “page does not exist” after clicking it. The dashboard does, in fact, exist as it did before this happened. I’ll get it fixed this week. I am adding another ~150 course/ workshop events this week as well.
The vast majority of the recurring annual events are all in the maps/ directory now.
Would you want a search filter option that displays/hides events based on whether they are workshops/ courses or Annual conferences? This is something potential business relationships have asked about for the future.
Would you like this as a feature in the search options?
FITLETE Radio
— I love the chance to share some people I have met over the years and get some of these great coaches in front of you. These shows have been working great, staying 15-20 minutes at the most, which makes them easier to digest without being disruptive to listening to other shows. I will try to keep this time limit for the episodes when I branch to the live interviews and feel brave enough to put out my first solo episode.
Fantastic podcasts I heard last week:
Future Of Fitness — Jenn Pishko - The CrossFit Medical Society
Founders — #380 Four Hundred Pages of Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger In Their Own Words
Unbiased Science — We are Tee-Totally Obsessed with the Science of Alcohol
The Performance Connection Podcast — Shawn Myszka | Reconceptualizing the Role of Performance Coaches in Athlete Development
Here’s a link to download Snipd, the podcast app I use to make a “notebook” of A.I. transcripts, bookmarks within episodes, and take notes on each podcast I hear! They have a free app you can use or, with this link, you get 1 month of their Premium version for free: 1 Free Month Of Premium Snipd.
Personal Update
— I deleted the Instagram app from my phone entirely and enjoy life more this way. I’m still posting, commenting, and sharing, but I’m using Instagram in a way that works better for literally everything in my life that happens outside of Instagram. Now, it doesn’t make using Instagram easier, but that is also part of the point of deleting the app. I won’t see everything from the people I follow anyway (thanks, Instagram algorithm). If there is essential info I need to know, I’m sure i’ll hear about it eventually.
I have been using Instagram only through the browser, requiring a 2-factor authentication if I want to “scroll” and then log out whenever I close the browser window.
I use a make.com video and photo automation to post/share. Any video or image is edited offline and not within the app itself.
I use the Meta Business Suite app for messaging with folks, sharing a story in the moment, or scheduling it for the future.
It is not a perfect solution, but it allows me the freedom, through some purposeful inconvenience, to choose when, where, and how I want to use their services.
