Courage is not just about words or distant actions; it’s about taking risks and standing firm when confronted with adversity. Ask yourself if your actually brave or simply assertive from afar.
FITLETE Professional Update
I have a new “about me” page on the site. This page will feature interviews, podcasts, videos, and articles I have been in or involved in.
Like this one! Voyage Miami is a local publication that interviews small businesses and entrepreneurs in Miami; here is my interview.
The Resource Nexus
— IT’S LIVE!!! The continuing education maps are updated with brand search features, and they work like a charm. (check the video below for a quick demo)
I might play around with the actual look, but you will have the ability to dynamically filter down to the exact event you’re looking for. The best parts:
The page never has to reload once you’re on the page, so if you go offline after the data loads, you can filter and search endlessly until you get service again.
Lastly, since every dropdown filter relates to one another, you can easily customize your search by one option at a time before applying the filters to the table and map. This makes it easier to see if what you’re looking for even exists! The dropdowns only populate with options based on records in the database that consider ALL of the selected dropdowns you alter.
FITLETE Radio
— This week will feature the very first monologue episode from me! It will most likely be published on Friday.
FITLETE Nation
— I like apparel and rep my brand every day. If you want to help me spread the word about FITLETE and grab some gear, this section will soon feature some designs I think are cool. I like art, so I will actually be the one designing each piece of art and graphic on the apparel. This is not a profit-driven project; pricing will be transparent on that as well. They will be priced only to cover the cost of goods, print, and shipping costs.
Fantastic podcasts I listened to last week on Snipd:
On Purpose With Jay Shetty: Alexis Ohanian: Why Discipline Creates Freedom & How to Incorporate Routines in Your Schedule in Order to Succeed
A16z Podcast: Fixing Education in America: What's Stopping Us?
Founders Podcast By David Senra: The Most Inspiring Autobiography I've Read: Chung Ju-yung Founder of Hyundai
Barbell Medicine Podcast: #325: Highly Effective Training With Limited Time
Snipd is the podcast app I use to make a “notebook” of A.I. transcripts, bookmarks within episodes, and take notes on each podcast I hear! They have a free app you can use or, with this link, you get 1 month of their Premium version for free: 1 Free Month Of Premium Snipd.
Personal Update
— It’s 2025, and I’ve seen so many ads for people to “start their new fitness and health journey.” I want to use this moment to remind all of us coaches that if we continue to deliver the same messages, then we should expect the same drop-off result from all these newly excited participants. That drop-off rate is about +80% before the end of February! Here are 4 things I personally don’t think add value to what we do as a service for people looking to improve their health and fitness.
Saying, “It’s not that hard; it’s just an hour of your day” in your ad campaigns.
It severely downplays the work and obstacles that are likely already keeping them out of the gym and undermines that we ask them to take a percentage of their FREE time to do something they don’t enjoy. If you have a 9-5 job, commute to work, and have kids, then an hour workout might be like +50% of your free time. That hour appears larger now. Imagine if I told you personal trainers that you must spend 1 hour of the day (not working out, not tending to your clients, not doing something you like to do outside of the gym, etc.) you need to be sitting at a computer learning to code in Javascript, and then just said, “It’s just 1 hour a day. It's not hard.”
Saying, “It’s easy to get started” when trying to close the sale.
They already know it's easy to start; they’ve probably started this journey a few times before. Starting is not the problem; continuing is.
Using slogans like “no pain, no gain” or “embrace the suck” in flyers and ads.
I mean, I don’t think I really need to explain this, so I’m not going to waste our time. (Insert rolling my eyes GIF.)
Make statements like “lose 20 lbs in your first month.”
The sensational statement might close the sale, but if this strategy worked, then people wouldn’t cyclically try to lose the same 20 lbs from last year again.
Do you have any more we should avoid using?
Let’s do better this year. We have more technology and more access to help clients from anywhere, and with any luck, you used FITLETE to get better educated in areas that further enhance your ability to help people.
