Ads Rating: 90
The later shows have a clearly defined sponsor and they get their ad and mention of the sponsor done really quick in the beginning of the show. It’s so well done that it’s almost more work to skip ahead of the ad. Their more recent episodes start straight away into the content.
Banter Rating: 80
Some of the episodes are pretty short with little to no banter within the show, but some of the longer ones have some slow topic intros and really really casual conversation feel. It’s not always a bad thing, but sometimes it can get annoying if you are hoping to get more from the episodes besides background stories.
Structure Rating: 80
They are very conversational interviews in their newer episodes and they keep it fairly consistent within these newer episodes. If you do venture into their archive of shows they tend to differ quite a bit from long form to short form shows. The short form shows are pretty useless for the most part because they seem to be just intros to the guests they will have at a seminar or event in the near future.
Podcast Notes Rating: 90
Newer episodes since 2020 have been set up with really great show notes that include a brief description of the episode guest and then timestamped topics/subjects. They are not links but that ok. Some of the early episodes in their 2017–2019 range only have the guest name or the hosts name in the entire note. Those episodes you are pretty much going in blind.
Podcast Titles Rating: 75
Their early shows are all topic and or guest only. They do label when a show is in 2 parts, but the most recent episodes have titles that are confusing. There are 2 sets of numbers, the Show Sponsor name, the podcasts name, then an episode number and the guests name. Its not easy to see what the episode is.
Audio Quality Rating: 75
The most recent shows sound pretty good, but there is often an audio disruption of interference from the guests mic.
My Final Score: B
It’s a true back and forth discussion between the host and the guests for all their newer episodes. I would not classify this as a strict interview based show because of the back and forth type of discussion, and additional input from the host. I am interested in seeing how they will structure future episodes as of right now they seem to be sticking with a specific “series” type season called Track Mind. The show is very sports performance focused with is a nice niche to listen too if you are looking to get a feel for the type of content that they actually put out for education. I also think it’s a bold approach to only have guest on that are participating in their other content. Not bold in a bad way, but I think only a few companies would be able to pull this off and I think ALTIS is one of them.
