Personal Update
I had a local publication interview! They highlight local businesses in the area and it was cool to talk about what I do and my motivations as well. If you ever come down to Miami, FL(please reach out and say hello) you can also find some of my favorite activities, and food recommendations from the article. The really cool part is a personal training client of mine who also has her own local business was the one who sent my name in to be considered for an interview.
I think it’s cool because it shows the trust and confidence they have in me as a person extends outside of the gym enough to promote an association from their work to mine. Trust is an integral part of our business as we work directly in the lives of the people we take on as clients.
This week’s really cool podcast to listen to is: a “twofer”
The Lifestyle Chase Podcast With Chris Liddle- Episode June 28th: Jason Leenaarts on locking yourself out of apathy and into intentional work.
As you know I am a big fan of this show, but that’s not the reason why it’s on here today. It’s on here because I believe everyone should listen to the points expressed about self-confidence, building client confidence, and not letting little moments of frustration turn into bigger distractions to your day. One quote I liked from this episode was a question he asked himself when making some adjustments to how he was promoting his work.
If it’s not getting me into the big picture direction that I want to go than is it wasted effort?
I think this is an important question to ask yourself when looking at what you’re doing today, what you want to be doing next week, and where you want to be next year and year over year. The big picture direction.
Future Of Fitness Podcast With Eric Malzone- Episode June 28th: Simon Sollberger - PEAR Sports - The Future of Smart Fitness
I thought this episode paired nicely with The Lifestyle Chase one because it’s a look at the possibilities of our future industry. I say possibilities because I don’t know if what they talk about will be the direction we go as coaches or if it will just be another branch of the consumer exposure to health and fitness. The episode is all about wearables, health metric data collection, and decreasing the silos between fitness tech companies in the future. It’s interesting to listen because these things are forming in place right now mostly from the consumer side with only limited involvement of industry coaches. I can 100% see a world where co-existing with smart fitness devices and algorithmic custom workout programming is the new training industry and it’s interesting to hear what these companies are doing today to make that the future instead of trying to “phase out” the people who call themselves coaches and trainers.
Education & Career Tools Update
I’m putting the final touches together to begin creating reviews and previews for the different training software available. These reviews will be looking at the current capabilities and core functions offered. I haven’t found any good 3rd-party previews or reviews that say more than “ it was really good, I liked it and it helped me grow my business” and to be honest pretty annoying haha.
This will be added to the refreshed look of the Training software directory that currently shows you the pricing difference between each company based on how many clients and how much you will charge.
You wont see this for a little while, but I wanted to let you know here to help keep myself on top of the important stuff.
