Personal Update
I’ve had a lot going on this past week that has pulled my thoughts and concentration in a few different directions, sometimes all at once. While it is stressful it’s also an excellent opportunity to take the time in order to refocus where my efforts are needed. To make an assessment of what I am doing, and where I want to allocate my time and energy. It’s difficult to reel in those over-analyzing thoughts, or ruminating on questions you have no way of getting answers to, but you have to make sure they aren’t taking precedence over the stuff you are working toward and fighting for because that is what really matters. I don’t know what you use in this situation and I assume everyone is different, but it helps me to reaffirm my goals and write them down again. This way I can see how they fit within my current situation and how to press on toward them.
Cool Podcast I listened to last week
Business For Unicorns Episode 148: Why you should know what your competition is up to With Michael & Pete
Pete brought up a good point about the 8-minute mark that lays out the overall importance of this episode. I’m paraphrasing here but he said “We have to get over this feeling that keeping an eye on what your competitors are doing is creepy because it’s not. Their pricing models, marketing, customer service, and service offerings aren’t tightly helping business secrets under lock and key, they are readily available to anyone who calls or shows up for a class.”
This is a good episode for us because we need to reaffirm that this thing we do as “helpful people” is a business and can be a cutthroat competitive one depending on your market. Having a successful gym or training company in your area will require you to do some work that is not at all associated with being a fitness practitioner, and performing a market analysis and audit of your services compared to your competition is standard practice in business.
Education and Career tools Update
The Public dashboard is getting a facelift in the next coming weeks. I have been working on adding more value to this top page in order to better showcase what FITLETE is all about. It will make it easier to view and hopefully drive more members to sign up. I enjoy making these improvements because the ideas largely come from you guys! Thanks for helping my eyes see what is right in front of me sometimes!
I have 2 articles slotted to go this week, but they are not finished yet. Be on the lookout for them! They are about Uniforms and Recognizing niches in your community.
