Personal Update
April Fools! I’m not going anywhere!!! Yes, It’s a cheesy attempt at an April Fool's Day joke, but I couldn’t think of anything clever enough this year other than that cheesy newsletter headline.
As it is the 4th month of 2024, I would like to take a few moments over this week to reflect and plan out how I will refocus my efforts to execute for the next few months. Taking these moments to self-audit my efforts gives me the agency to constructively problem-solve things within my life that spill into business and vice versa.
Fantastic podcasts I heard last week.
RX’D Radio Episode 483: Start at the beginning: the perfect client intake process.
Business For Unicorns Episode 321: How to generate more leads at events with Pete Dupuis
Inspire Fitness Episode March 19th,2024: The All/Nothing Mentality- A conversation with my colleague George Pagan III
Founders Podcast Episode #338: Monty Moncrief, Texas Oil Billionaire
Professional Update
Shutting down is quite literally the opposite of what's going on behind the scenes. I’m doubling down on my mission. 2 weeks ago, I was on a podcast; I have another podcast scheduled for tomorrow evening.
On top of all of that, I am finishing the Q2 event directory updates this month. They will be done later than I want them to be because one of the systems I use screwed up my collection methods, and I have to rebuild some of them, which is simply just time-consuming. This also means I have to put a small pin in releasing some of the other feature sets I was going to release this quarter, but that’s OK because a delay is not a stop; it’s just a delay. Who knows, maybe a few of Miami’s famous Cuban coffees a day will get me there faster than I anticipated.
What you can look forward to next after the Q2 updates are finished is: THE USA EQUIPMENT COMPANY DIRECTORY. It will look and feel like the events map you know and love but feature both Made in USA companies and/or USA-owned companies that use an OEM.
This is one of the projects I added to my list because of the struggle I had with opening my own facility here in the tip of Florida. Believe it or not, I am not a millionaire(yet?), nor am I funded by venture capital or loans. I am bootstrapped as bootstrapped gets, and I actually have a budget I need to stick to. So, when I was picking equipment for my space, I had to find things that fit within the size of the facility and allowed me to stay on budget. Sometimes, the shipping costs of these heavy pieces were a deterrent to acquiring these new pieces. For this, I needed local options, and it saved me thousands of dollars in staying local for the majority of my equipment. The other side was I needed some equipment that was modular or multipurpose, and I had too many bookmarks and saved Instagram posts to just keep them locked away and disorganized. Once I need a new piece again, I will be using my own creation to save time and effort.
