It's often easier to fall into trouble than to escape it. It encourages me to be wary and think carefully before entering risky circumstances.

The Resource Nexus
— I am at the Real Coaches Summit 2025 in Las Vegas! I want to share what I do BEFORE the event begins to prepare and get the most out of it.
Where are we eating MEALS: This event is structured as an “all-inclusive event,” meaning meals are provided and all are eaten together as a group, so I don’t have to prepare or prep when and where to eat. Typically, I will do a bit of background about food options and where might be good areas to get a group to get some food together.
What PRESENTATIONS do I want to see: Every event has a schedule, and it’s to your advantage to find out the event's structure and if two presentations are happening at the same time to figure out which speakers you want to hear.
How can I MEET PEOPLE?: You don’t HAVE to sit through every presentation to get the most out of the event. The people who go to these events are “your people”. They have similar mindsets, goals, and passion for self-improvement. Please get to know them! You can meet new people, reconnect with friends, talk to your friends’ new friends, and stroll around the exhibitors’ tables. Someone once told me: “The life-altering connections happen in the hallways.”
JUST RELAX: Be yourself. You are around people who are all trying to do the same things you're doing. People you meet will be at different points in their careers, some will be where you want to be, and others will be where you used to be. Take a deep breath, relax, and enjoy yourself. It’s not all that serious.

Personal Update
— A little under two years ago, I received an email from a college student about to graduate from university. He was in Miami on vacation and wanted to meet up and ask me some questions about getting into internship programs. We ended up chatting for about an hour as I tried to give him the most information and insight I could. He left and seemed thankful and motivated, but you know how these things can go: Sometimes, the follow-through is abandoned after the initial effort.
I don’t log into LinkedIn often, but I am glad I did this past week. Most of the time, my account is just filled with connection requests from spammy marketers and business growth gurus. However, this past week, I got a message from that kid saying everything we discussed had helped him get into his first internship. He has progressed to a few fellowships and stipended positions, and now even coaching in the team sport he wanted! We hopped on a video call and caught up for about 30 minutes on Thursday night. One piece I took from this call was when he was in Miami on that vacation trip, he messaged like seven other coaches. I don’t know who he emailed, but he said I was the only coach to reply and give him the time of day. I was busy training clients, working out, doing FITLETE website stuff, and getting organized for the future move to HQ, and I almost told him no. He could have left that vacation trip more discouraged to enter the field than to pursue his goals further.
